Day 1 - Arrive in Tibet Tsetang   (Elevation 3,515 m / 11,529 ft)

  • Arrive at Gongkar Airport and travel to Tsetang.  Spend the rest of the day acclimatizing. Attend a welcome dinner and trip briefing.
  • Night’s Stay and Accommodations: Tsetang

Day 2 – Explore Tsedang area

  • Visit the Samye Monastery (the first Buddhist monastery) in the morning; and spend the afternoon at the Yumbulagang Palace. )
  • Night’s Stay and Accommodations: Tsetang

Day 3 - Tsedang to Gyantse (Elevation 3940 m / 13,054 ft)

  • Continue the journey to Gyangtse via Khampha La pass and visit one of Tibet’s holy lakes, Yamdrok Tso.
  • Night’s Stay and Accommodations: Gyangtse

Day 4Gyantse to Shgiatse (Elevation 3840 m / 12,595 ft) 

  • Visit Gyangtse Kumbum and Gyanste Fort, and then drive to Shigatse during the afternoon.
  • Night’s Stay and Accommodations: Shigatse 

Day 5Shigatse to Lhasa (Elevation 3650 m / 11,972 ft)

  • Visit Tashilunbo Monastry in the morning; and then return to Lhasa.
  • Night’s Stay and Accommodations: Lhasa

Day 6 – Lhasa sightseeing  

  • Spend the morning visiting the Potala Palace. Visit the Jokhang Temple and the Barkhor Circuit in the afternoon.
  • Night’s Stay and Accommodations: Lhasa                                           

Day 7Explore Drepung, Norbulingka Summer Palace, and Sera monasteries

  • Drepung once housed 10,000 monks and was the largest monastery in the world. At its peak Sera housed 5000 monks and is now a great place to see monks debating.
  • Night’s Stay and Accommodations: Lhasa  

Day 8 – Depart from Lhasa
Transfer to the airport. Return home with wonderful memories from Tibet.
